We invite you to join the Revival of Pure & Simple Health Education, Inc.:
Help us build strong youth, strong families, and strong communities!
A Youth-and-Family-Focused Mission
The mission of Pure & Simple Health Education, Inc., founded in 1997, remains: to provide youth-focused primary prevention and risk avoidance education for Youth, Families, and Communities. We promote positive choices, healthy relationships, and strong families. Part of the revival is the redefining of a committed partnership between Pure & Simple Health Education, Inc. and Kansans for Life that began in 2014 with the late David Gittrich, who served as Pure & Simple’s President. Today the Pure & Simple organization remains a separate 501 (C) 3 nonprofit with leadership completely separate from Kansans for Life.
A Brief Pure & Simple History:
In 1997, Dr. Ruth Taylor, Lois Theis, and Mary Easterday incorporated as “Abstinence Education Consultants, Inc.” When the opportunity arose to submit state or federal grant applications in 2001 the organization’s name changed to “Abstinence Education, Inc.” From 2001 to 2012, the organization was awarded State and Federal grants, ranging from $25,000 to $700,000 a year, which enabled the organization to reach many youth and families:
Why Abstinence?
Abstinence Education - now known as Sexual-Risk Avoidance (SRA) Education - is the only 100% effective method for the primary prevention of Sexually Transmitted Diseases and Infections, unwed pregnancy, and other psychological and emotional health concerns. If we're going to teach kids about sex, we want to give them the complete truth about sex and the whole truth about themselves and their bodies instead of conflicting statistics about "safe[r] sex" and a sex-centered view of themselves and their bodies.
The goal of the Pure & Simple REVIVAL is to expand the reach of our primary prevention and risk avoidance education and empower more youth to make positive choices, develop healthy relationships, and grow stronger families and communities.
