ABOUT US
Pure & Simple Truth for Youth, Inc.’s story begins in 1997 when Dr. Ruth Taylor, along with Mary Easterday, M.Ed. and Lois Theis, R.N., BSN, founded Abstinence Education Consultants, Inc. The organization primarily provided abstinence education training to teachers for college credit, conducted classroom and after school programs, and participated in community events.
In 2003, the organization received a five-year renewable State Title V Abstinence Grant. In 2004 Abstinence Education Consultants Inc., changed its name to Abstinence Education Inc., and then to Pure & Simple Health Education, Inc. in 2010. The Title V grant, along with subsequent federal and state grants and in-kind donations, funded the creation and ongoing development of the Pure & Simple Choice curricula, a positive choices and risk-elimination program geared toward boys and girls ages 10-17 and their families.
In 2014, the Wichita Catholic Diocese awarded an Nihil Obstat/Imprimatur for the Pure & Simple Choice VIRTUE curricula.
In 2019, the organization adopted a new name, Pure & Simple Truth for Youth, Inc., and a new and focused mission statement geared toward providing Truth for Youth retreats and programs, parent presentations and community resources that focus on educating teens and parents about the importance of making positive choices, developing healthy relationships, and growing strong families. We are currently working on revising and updating our curriculum which should be completed in 2021!
